tears and bullets

Current song playing in head: Fix You Up by Tegan and Sara

wala lang, i love how the two words sound together. something i thought up while on my way somewhere.

i should cry in cabs more often.

superstarstruck

Current Music: Huddle Formation by The Go! Team (feeling a bit cheerleader-ish)

have i been a really lousy blogger lately or WHAT? obviously, lack of action in my life commiserates to this site's lack of entries. there has been action going on, don't get me wrong. some good action, and some really really bad ones too. but since i vowed (well, sort of) to blog only about happy things (to spare everyone my ridiculous bursts of senseless rants here and there), i am having a hard time writing about the good stuff that's happened to me lately. mostly babaw stuff anyway, like kilig moments that took a whole of two seconds, which i always conveniently stretch to about a year's worth of stories. but hey! i'll take whatever makes me smile. or whoever makes me smile. *googly eyes*

so this week is over, i cannot believe it's friday already. let me just take a big whiff of the weekend air. i swear, time seems to be on a race! it's just crazy, and it's already the middle of the year. can't believe 2 months have already passed since the first trip to the beach i took this past summer. geez, i can't believe summer is already over. so fresh on my mind, still.

but it was an interesting week. first off, never in my wildest dreams did i ever imagine it would be part of my job to be watching people like, say, sharon cuneta while taping her weekly show and be in VIP seats care of really really really nice and generous executive producers *ahem*... or hmm, bump into, shake hands, and actually converse with gee, gary v? this job drives me to the brink of complete cynicism and fits of smoking depression sometimes, but i swear it is the bomb. (and i'm not just saying that to pucker up, i really mean stuff like that)

the woman is a superstar for all its worth. what a nice superstar shawi turned out to be, interacting with the audience and such a joy to watch in action. her sense of humor actually surprised me, someone of her stature surely must be so used to riding the waves of fame and just having her minions deal with normal folk like us, but it's nice to see her sincerity towards her fans. and wow, what fanatics they turned out to be. as the show was ending, i approached her stealthily, ready to give the bag of magazines we prepared for her. good thing mm was right behind me because as soon as the cameras stopped rolling, the fans practically pounced on sharon. i think i lost my state of mind for a good 2 seconds as i tried to find my way out of the wave after wave of people who rushed to her to, i dunnow, find salvation. mm grabbed the mags in time and was able to give them to her showbiz highness and there i was stuck in the last place in the universe i never would have wanted to be caught dead in: a MOB. fame sure has its price, must suck to be her once in a while.

and wow, from one rose-from-the-80's star to the other. while doing a promotional radio tour for men's health magazine with the mag's publisher yesterday, who could we possibly run into but mr. man of pure energy gary v himself? well, we didn't run into him, we found out he was coming over too, so we waited for him. for like an hour. and wow, i can only come up with two words off the top of my head to describe the experience. yummy FILF. the guy is 42, but still looks 10 decades younger, it's amazing. it seems like he hasn't aged a bit since the first time i found out he was the singer of one of the first songs every 80's kid must've learned by heart and danced to (minsan, ang sabi niya sa akin sandali na lang...) amazing what a healthy lifestyle can do to a person. now if only i can quit smoking cold turkey, stop crash dieting, and squeeze in an hourly workout session into my daily itinerary. i bet aging would be a breeze, too. *sigh*

i cannot begin to describe how gary v took my breath away. my breath, my brains even... i sounded like a babbling idiot while i stood there trying to make words out of the meaningless sounds coming out of my mouth. and since when did i start talking in a voice barely above a whisper??! the last time i checked, the megaphone i must've swallowed when i was a kid is still internally somewhere in me, resonating my voice (and LAUGHTER) decibels louder and pitchier throughout the years. fine time for my voice to give, he could barely hear what i was saying. nevertheless, he couldn't have been more gracious to the people who suddenly flooded the radio booth to catch a glimpse of him. and he didn't treat me like i was invisible *screams with glee* he looked us all in the eye in conversation, and was very, very polite. for a super celebrity, it was really overwhelming. after conversing with him (mostly about men's health magazine, as he is in the June cover), i decided to sneak out the booth to make way for more people coming in. i must've jumped out of my skin when he suddenly asked "You're going?" without even realizing he was talking to ME. classic moment, Bridget Jones would've been very proud. i must've told him what an honor to meet him like, 200 frazillion times. and oh God, i hope that wasn't a Japanese bow i did as i bid him goodbye.

starstruck? more like, SUPERstarstruck. of all the celebs i've met, i don't think i've been in such a knot before, acting like a complete duffus. uh-duh.

i realized an amusing irony, though. i've met, and even worked, with some emerging young stars who acted like the world was at their feet, ready to give in to their every whim. to compare them to the likes of sharon or gary v, i just wish these beautiful and young newcomers have even half the graciousness of these veteran superstars who've been in the industry for like, ever. maybe then they'd last just as long, too.
